String makers Dean Markley briefly entered the pedal market, and they offered up this: a gnarly overdrive pedal, driven by a real 12AX7 tube and powered by a mains cable. It's definitely a product of it's era in terms of styling: nasty fonts, black and red etc., but the thing sounds fantastic. It's pretty transparent, with a bit of extra warm glow through the midrange, and delivers heaps of gain range and headroom. The EQ is powerful too, you can get it kicking just right. Top marks Deany Weeny.
