The SM-200 is their rendition of the Boss SG-1 Slow Gear, a relatively rare MIJ Boss offering allowing for softening the attack of your signal into smooth swells. The result can range from symphonic waves to pedal steel-like crooning without a volume pedal or the finessing of your volume knob, making the SG-1 a bit of a cult favorite among ambient artists, shoegazers, and beyond.The pedal itself is quite simple in form and function, a plastic chassis and stomp with just two knobs controlling sensitivity and the amount of attack. The pedal runs off a standard 9V power adapter or a 9V battery, the preference of tone whisperer Tom Verlaine who previously owned this example.Height is 4 3/4 in. (12.1 cm.), 2 3/4 in. (7 cm.) width, and 2 in. (5.1 cm.) in depth at deepest point. Out of all the pedals we got from the late Mr. Verlaine, this is the mintiest . . . It is in its original packaging after all, seemingly unused. The packaging itself is a little beat up, but the pedal is nearly mint. It is clear that it has been removed and toyed with, and it works perfectly well, but seemed to spend most of its life behind plastic in Verlaine's studio. It with a letter of authenticity signed by Patrick Derivaz, Verlaine's close friend and long time musical collaborator from whom we received the pedal. Overall Excellent + Condition.
