One of the reasons I've used one of these on guitars, bass, synth, drums and even vocals for more than a decade.Invented by the mad genius Zachary Vex, in basic terms it's:- 20-second analog phrase-sampling looper- very low fidelity looping, built on a chip only found in an answering machine made for funeral homes!- looper frequency response cuts off at 2.6 kHz, giving you a warm and characterful sound- this hits a brick-wall but velvety rich analogue compression, that gives your looop layers of analogue hiss, distortion and an organ-like sound- dial in a musically tuned warped-record or tape warble vibrato feature - a gorgeously transparent built-in guitar preamp gives your direct guitar a glistening but subtle lift aand sparkle...you won't want to turn it off!Oh, and it remembers your loop even when unplugged or with the battery removed, for up to 100 years. Which is nice!A few things worth shouting about:- Records loops in either bypass mode or play mode- Has vibrato with speed and depth controls, allowing a vibrato/chorus/Leslie-like shimmer- Allows analogue overdrive of recordings using ‘record level’ control- Has a tone control that rolls off hiss and other annoying artifacts for burbling, mellow samples- Has a safety-switch to protect a favorite sample from being recorded over accidentally- Plays back at any volume, louder than your direct guitar if you wish- Draws as little as 2 mA from the battery when in bypass mode, and about 12 mA when activated- Smells great. No really, you need to open it and sniff it and then you'll understandJust to stress what makes this a magic box of character: NO ANALOG TO DIGITAL CONVERSION. That's rare.
