Boss DS-1 Distortion (1981 / 1982)Serial Number: 133898This is an early Made in Japan or Taiwan Boss DS-1, produced at the Roland factory. These early units are highly sought after for their distinct tone and build quality.By this production date, the pedal still used the Toshiba TA7136AP op-amp, the same chip found in the earliest DS-1s (1978–1984), before Boss switched to the Mitsubishi M5223AL and later to different op-amps when production moved to Taiwan in mid-1984. This version delivers the classic warm, dynamic distortion with plenty of harmonic richness—quite different from later versions. The pedal is in full working order, with all original parts intact. Cosmetically, it shows normal signs of use but is in great nick, apart from one missing screw on the bottom. Comes with the original box too! A genuine piece of Boss history and one of the most iconic distortion pedals ever made.
