The FZ-5 faithfully models the characteristics of germanium transistors used in historical vintage fuzzes at the element level. Three types of fuzz sounds with completely different characters can be switched with the knob. The F mode features a saturated sound on the bass strings and a moderately mild distortion on the plain strings; the M mode features the dirty sound of the earliest distortion models; and the O mode perfectly reproduces a unique sound as if a note was added an octave higher.
