Java Boost

For those who are not very familiar with this kind of thing it is good to warn that this pedal can deliver a white noise in 90% of settings . It is supposed to be before already distorted amp or effect (not after). It is also sensitive for pickups ( but a noise gate will be more useful after this pedal rather than before) . If you don't have already an experience with Java boosts it may be not for you (rather for high-level nerds). However I doubt that there is any room for improvement for this pedal tone-wise. The version I have is one of the oldest . Definitely the "boutique era" of the Keeley brand . The small switch has 3 positions . The most important piece in this model is this rarely mounted , black Mullard OC44 transistor that was also essential for the famous Dallas Rangemaster effect . When today Keeley makes pedals with these transistors he releases max 25 pieces to the market. In my experience the black transistor sounds dirtier than the yellow one (I compared two Javas side by side).Anyway , mine looks ok . I'm rather certain that works well for the design it is (though the pots can crackle sometimes) .
