The BOSS BF‑2 is a classic analogue flanger pedal that melds the dry signal with a short, modulated delay to produce signature flanging effects. It features four intuitive controls—Manual (adjusts delay time), Depth (adjusts effect intensity), Rate (controls sweep speed), and Resonance (feedback level)—allowing users to tailor sounds from subtle chorus-like shimmer to dramatic jet-plane sweeps.
Despite being discontinued in favour of newer models, the BF‑2 remains beloved for its organic, musical response and compact size. Its analogue bucket-brigade delay design gives the modulation warmth and character that many modern digital units struggle to match, making it a versatile addition to any pedalboard.
This pedal is powered by a standard 9 V adapter or battery and draws around 14 mA, fitting neatly into most pedal setups. It excels at creating rhythmic swooshes, spacey vibrato, and gentle chorus tones (by minimising manual and resonance settings), offering a wide sonic palette from subtle modulation to extreme flange.
