Externally Worn, But Fully Functional and Strong:The secret weapon of Meshuggah (check out the website of Studio 33, from Fredrik Thordendal – he used to collect these units, as it's an absolute must-have). That's why they are still so hard to find: they're snapped up super fast, often bought by Fredrik himself. Even today. For good reason. Good thing he's not on classifieds, right?! Often copied – often good, but never good enough.Absolute boost with EQ and a sharp bite to the sound. Whether on 10-band EQs or amps – the bands here conjure up a tightness without castrating the lows. More assertiveness, more aggression, more punch, without distorting your sound. The sound isn't changed; rather, it's steered in a direction, getting help to achieve that modern metal sound. I'm even including the adapter for current power supplies to these special jack connections.I bought it because all the pedal emulsions (or pedals in general), unfortunately, didn't receive nearly as much love as the amps when we're talking about AMP sims and models. In fact, even the copies (tested: Fortin 33, Protone Preamp, DemonFX) don't even come close to what these vintage darlings do (in the case of the Fortin pedal, it's even bad, as a knob hardly fits the respective setup like the original). I also thought at first, "Yeah, you can get that cheaper nowadays, right?" A little bit, yes, but not THAT. Actually, it's my favorite boost. Can be operated from 9V to 32/33 Volts (coincidence?!). More volts = more good (headroom), but even at 9V, it's already the absolute boss.
