Noel’s Rock Shop at 23 East King Street in York, PA is pleased to present this secondhand ProCo RAT pedal modded by Placebo Farm here in York, PA. The ‘Parent Thesis’ modification does multiple things; one of which is the addition of a Tone Pad Green Ringer circuit board in the battery compartment — obviously inspired by Earthquaker Devices/SUNN O))) Life pedal. The improvement of this over the EQD Life or Parentheses clone pedal is that the Green Ringer circuit can be activated independently of the RAT circuit via the right footswitch or cascaded into the Rat circuit when both switches are activated. Placebo Farm also added a pair of diodes to the output resistor to compress/bring up the octave signal; they used a cap at the input resistor to aid on this front as well. Additionally, the little switch at the top expands the bass (not boosts it) using GGBB’s mod idea— it adds an extra ‘oomph’ when playing bass or detuned guitars. Sounds great, functions properly.
