Up for sale, a 1982 Boss CE-3 Chorus in excellent condition and in perfect working order. An extremely early black label Japanese-made version of the CE-3, this pedal was manufactured just a couple months into the CE-3’s run.
Released in the early '80s and touted as a stereo version of the popular CE-2, this pedal delivers lush classic chorus tones that edge towards the sparkly hi-fi side of things, with controls for Depth and Rate, as well as a control that lets the player select the chorus effect’s spread across the stereo field. From slow three-dimensional swirl to quick rotary-like sounds which recall a Univibe, the CE-3 covers significant tonal ground.
Wear is limited to some minor marks on the enclosure, and the original knob set is present. The black foil “Made in Japan” label on the back is intact, as is the serialized sticker in the battery compartment, dating production to December, 1982.
