Description

Used once. The Death By Audio Robot is a low-fidelity 8-bit pitch transposer and fuzz pedal that transforms any input into a synthetic, resynthesized sound. It offers four distinct modes, each providing unique effects: • Normal: Delivers the same pitch with 8-bit digital conversion when the Control Knob is fully clockwise. Turning the Control Knob counterclockwise bends the pitch downward. • Octave Down: Produces a pronounced octave-down effect with the Control Knob fully clockwise. Adjusting the Control Knob counterclockwise further lowers the pitch. • Octave Up: Generates a sharp octave-up sound when the Control Knob is fully clockwise. Turning the Control Knob counterclockwise decreases the pitch. • Arpeggiator: Sequences the pitch in a pattern, with the Control Knob adjusting the speed of the arpeggiation. The pedal features a Volume control for master output and a Control Knob that sets the pitch or arpeggiation speed, depending on the selected mode. Its dimensions are 5.9” x 4.75” x 2.75”, and it operates on a 9V power supply. Notably, it requires a dedicated power source and is not compatible with daisy chain power systems. The Robot is known for its ability to produce a wide range of robotic and unique sounds, making it suitable for both guitar and bass. It encourages creativity with its highly reactive and distinctive soundscapes and integrates well with other pedals like fuzzes, distortion, and overdrives. However, finding the same arpeggiated sound again can be challenging, and it may not be suitable for use in every song due to its specific tone. Additionally, it requires a dedicated power cable, which can complicate pedalboard setup.
