This little orange monster, although may look quite worn out, works perfectly and charms with its delightful sound! Many signs of usage (it had seen gigging over in Portugal), all of which have been photographed.Last year, I was in possession of another example in pristine visual condition) which was noticeably louder than this worn-out one. By that, I mean that the noise level or white noise was quite drastic, even for a tube pedal. With this one, the noise is present but manageable, especially at stage volume.Due to the use of the 12AX7 tube, the pedal boosts the signal quite a bit. John Frusciante allegedly used the pedal this way—as a preamp. Joe Bonamassa also mentioned in an interview that Guyatone "adds a little bit of coloration."Apparently, you can significantly influence the sound by experimenting with different tubes. I only have ECC83 or 12AX7 tubes from the '60s on hand. With these, the volume already drops below unity. Various forums suggest that 5751 or, even better, 12AY7 tubes help control the boost function as well as the noise. I haven't tried it myself, but honestly, I'm skeptical that the noise can be completely eliminated. After experimenting with a few tube pedals, I lean towards the opinion that he noise is inherent to the construction of tube pedals.Although the tremolo itself sounds absolutely fantastic and gorgeous and magical—especially in stereo—I'm just way too ocd when it comes to noise. This pedal would be awesome in a rock context, where noise is present anyway.The pedal comes with the original power supply and warranty card, along with the original packaging.I’d be open to trading for another (awesome) tremolo pedal. My preference at the moment would be Twin Peaks by Drolo FX, but hit me up with suggestions.
