Introduced in 1979, the OD808’s smooth overdrive proved so popular that the design was soon licensed to Ibanez and re-released as a pedal known as a “Tube Screamer.” The rest, as they say, is history. This re-release by Maxon has been tweaked slightly to reduce noise while retaining all of its classic tone.
