About the Unicorn Account

Description

I just had major unexpected surgeries so I'm selling off stuff I'd love to have the capacity to keep. Instead of three pedalboards, I'm down to one, so some of my recent purchases are being sold off. I’m about to put amps and guitars up in a few weeks as well, so follow my shop for some great gear being sold by someone whose hospital bills are just too crushing to keep his bedroom music playing rig as robust as it is. I may replace many of these pedals at some time in the future, because I love having multiple tonal and textural options. But for now, there are quite a few medical offices that are inundating me with rather large bills.I got this T-Rex Replica before we had a million pedalmakers creating multi-mode delays left and right. I think I bought it in 1998 direct from T-Rex in Denmark. The fidelity and tap functions are sterling quality. Things that cannot really be replicated in s Strymon algorithm. It was discontinued around 2015 and people clamored for its return. In 2020, T Rex re-released a version that (as expected) is much different and more complex than this vintage original. How can you tell the difference? Loads of ways but the easiest is that this original version features a raised, vinyl logo on the top of the pedal. The reissues all just feature a logo printed onto the pedal.(SIDEBAR: If any of you are drooling over their newer "Replicator" real tape delay like I was - sadly you can forget it. I owned one for a week and the tape feed had more problems than an original Echoplex or Space Echo. I was excited, figuring if anyone could have solved the physical tape issues, it would be T-Rex. But moving parts are nobody's friend. For what it costs, it's way too much potential for crashing, IMO) The sound of the original Replica is deceptively complex, though the controls are minimal and simple as you can see. This delay effect is warm and "real" sounding, and does what you want it to immediately with a quick adjustment. No rotary knob symbol translation, no menu deep diving. No shade if you love those sorts of activities, but if I can get a full-fidelity, amazing sound out of a pedal that's more simple than most others, that's where I'm headed.Full disclosure - I had it on my board for maybe 7 years - I used it in two bands in Pittsburgh that were moderately successful and it was a big part of my sound. Honestly - I probably overused it. It has the aspects of an "always on" effect, especially with the Tap-Tempo (which at the time was exceedingly rare) But I take exceptional care of my gear, and I've serviced, cleaned this up inside and out and kept it in perfect condition. You can see some case scratches on the back from being moved from board to board, but that's about it. It works perfectly, comes with its own power supply, a user's guide and specs list, a T-Rex catalog and the original box, along multiple worldwide power adapter tips for the power supply. (T-Rex was very global forward)Guitar Player Magazine gave it the editors Pick-AwardTap tempo control featureWarm analogue toneTubey warmth that brings out the best in your natural toneProbably the best delay in the worldGot the Guitar Player Magazines Pick Award REPLICA - WORLD’S BEST DELAY PEDALThe T-Rex Replica delay has won so much praise and received so many great reviews, it’s hard to know where to start describing what’s made this pedal such a phenomenon. Is it the perfect mix of controls, the ingenious tap control feature, the astonishingly warm tone?Replica delivers everything the most demanding guitarists could want in a delay – which is probably why guitar heroes from Pete Townsend to John Mayer rely on the Replica to help deliver their sound. Total controlOne of the Replica’s most brilliant features is its toggle-switch tap control. To set your delay rate to the tempo of the song you’re playing, all you have to do is to tap to the beat. This keeps your delay in time even as you change tempo – slowing down at the end of a song, for example. It really takes delay control to the next level.Warm, analogue toneLike everything T-Rex makes, the Replica is a musician’s pedal, built by and for musicians with just one thing in mind: incredibly tone. The first time you hear the Replica, you won’t believe your ears. It delivers a tubey warmth that brings out the best in your natural tone, without taking the upper hand by adding too much color. The Replica delay pedal embodies everything T-Rex Engineering stands for: the perfect feature set, simple, intuitive design and extraordinary tone. Try one today, and you’ll discover the only delay pedal you’ll ever need for a lifetime of great music. "Just leave it on! "- most players sayIt is hard to believe, that this delay pedal is digital. It gives the warmth of all-tube echo and also cool digital delay in studio quality. All with the convenience of one pedal.TIME, REPEAT, MIX and LEVEL knobs allow for quick, precise control. A Hi-cut button cuts high frequencies on repeats - perfectly simulating the tone of a 60s era tape echo. With a simple flick of a switch you can alter the delay’s subdivision parameter from 1/4 to 1/8 triplets, and to make the delay fit your purpose we even added a Tap-Tempo switch to get you right in time with your tune.
