I wanted the sound that Satriani uses occasionally in Satriani (1995) and Crystal Planet (1998) that has this semi-octave/fuzz character to it, acting as that special sauce for special moments. This is it (Satch also used it). I am now full Quad Cortex along with its synth and fuzz options, so don't need this pedal. I am sure it will make a die-hard fan of this sound very happy. Bought it ca year ago from Reverb, in excellent condition, just came from maintenance (parts, switch were cleaned). This is the later version with the red light to show that the effect is "ON" (earlier versions on sale do not have this). From the Voodoo Labs website: The Octavia is a fuzz which creates the octave doubling effect (one octave higher) made famous by Jimi Hendrix and Jeff Beck. The Voodoo Lab Proctavia is an exact replica of Tycobrahe Sound Company’s Octavia, the model used by Stevie Ray Vaughan and considered the most desirable by vintage collectors. The Proctavia includes the same transistors, germanium diodes and transformer coupled output stage as the original circuit to produce the outrageous distortion and high octave sound heard on classic recordings like “Are You Experienced” and “Wired.”CLASSIC SETTINGSBasic Octavia – Set the Boost all the way down and the Volume at about 1/2. Use the bridge pickup on your guitar. Back down your guitar volume a little. Play single notes at least halfway up the neck. You will get best results with new strings. Also, try hitting strings with the edge of your pick to emphasize harmonics.Super-long Sustain – Turn your guitar volume and the Boost all the way up. Set the Volume to the desired level. Play single notes for solos.
