Welcome to GearLord.com on Reverb– For your consideration is this vintage 1979 Mu-Tron Phasor II effects pedal by Musitronics.– This very nice example, serial number 15832, is in perfect working order.– It was previously owned and used by Indigo Ranch studio where it had resided for decades. The word “INDIGO” is written on the bottom panel in blue magic marker. The front of the enclosure retains an original piece of Indigo masking tape. According to Indigo’s inventory sheet, it was in the studio’s arsenal for a long time having been used in countless sessions and on many recordings. Reference below for a brief history on Indigo Ranch.– The Mu-Tron Phasor II is an advanced phase-shifting device designed to give the musician true state-of-the-art performance in a rugged, compact package. The original Mu-Tron Phasor has been used with great success by professionals all over the world. As a second generation model, Mu-Tron Phasor II offers significantly improved performance – made possible by adapting the advanced electronic technology developed for the revolutionary Mu-Tron Bi-Phase. Six phase-shift stages provide a maximum of 1080 degrees of phase-shift for a deep, satisfying phasing effect. Mu-Tron Phasor II features the exclusive feedback circuitry first introduced on the Mu-Tron Bi-Phase to produce a distinctive, pronounced sweeping effect – even at the slowest phasing rate. The circuitry has extremely low noise and unequaled signal-handling capability for freedom from distortion. This makes the Mu-Tron Phasor II ideal for use after a pre-amplifier or with high-output electric keyboards, and also for critical use with electric guitars or other instruments in the studio or on stage. Three continuously variable controls are provided for Rate, Depth, and Feedback. These give the musician complete and effective control of their sound over a very wide range of possible effects. Mu-Tron Phasor II is AC powered for quiet, reliable operation without the annoyance of frequent battery changes. The housing is made of heavy gauge steel, with thick rugged epoxy-finished aluminum that will stand up to hard use on the road.”– From original Musitronics Phasor II advertisement– Indigo Ranch, nestled on 60-acres in the hills of Malibu, California, operated from 1974 until 2006, under the guidance and obsessions of Richard Kaplan. Clients took advantage of his meticulously built studio, hundreds of effects pedals, 400 guitar amps, and rare Aengus console. Artists as diverse as Neil Young, Neil Diamond, Olivia Newton John, Jeff Lorber, Korn, Sepultura, and Limp Bizkit all made albums at Indigo Ranch. Vice published an article on how Indigo became the “improbable birthplace of Nu-Metal,” and Tape-Op Magazine interviewed Richard Kaplan, Ross Robinson, and others about the numerous important albums made at Indigo Ranch over the many decades it actively changed the landscape of both music and culture.
