Description

This is a Fairfield Shallow Water K-Field Modulator pedal. It's a modulation pedal (think chorus or flanger) with a random LFO, which gives it an unsettling character. It can be used as a conventional chorus or vibrato pedal. Or it can be warped into creating sounds like an old degrading VHS tape playing through a VCR with poor tracking. It's been on the pedalboards of Andy Summers of The Police, Blake Mills, and Joey Landreth. The Shallow Water has a control set that seems familiar, but can act in unusual ways because of the random LFO. Here's a rundown of the controls:RATE: This is the speed of the modulation. Counter-clockwise is slower; clockwise is faster.DAMP: This sort of changes the wave shape of the modulation, kind of like sine wave at one extreme, and square wave at the other.DEPTH: This adjusts the intensity of the modulation. Counter-clockwise is more subtle. Clockwise is more intense.LPG: This is sort of an EQ control. Counter-clockwise is warmer. Clockwise is brighter.MIX: This blends between the wet and dry signals. Full clockwise is 100% wet (vibrato). 12:00 is 50/50 wet/dry (chorus). Full counter-clockwise is 100% dry (no effect).VOLUME: This is the output level of the Shallow Water. Once the other knobs are set where you like them, you can adjust the VOLUME to match the output of your dry signal. Or you can crank it for a level boost. This Shallow Water is in excellent condition. It will come in the original box with the instruction manual. You can power this with a 9-volt pedalboard power supply (negative center).
