Description

Up for sale, a DOD Carcosa analog fuzz pedal. This fuzz is quite versatile, featuring two switchable voices, combining ‘70s-inspired splat and modern silicon tones in one stompbox, with eye-catching aesthetics taken from the Carcosa mythos, created by Robert W. Chambers and inspired by the work of Ambrose Bierce. Fans of the first season of HBO’s True Detective will recognize the Carcosa mythos terminology and nomenclature, which are featured heavily in the show.At the heart of the Carcosa is the Demhe/Hali mode mini-toggle; Demhe mode is designed for a high-headroom clean amp, with tons of low-mid punch and harmonic complexity even when natural amp clipping isn’t present, and naturally this mode gets absolute wild with a dirty amp. Hali mode is classic ‘70s fuzz through-and-through, ranging from silky leads to buzzsaw tones, all the way to full-on pea soup sludge. The Before (Gain) and After (Bias) controls further expand the tonal range, with wide sweeps, and the Hi-Cut knob can round out the naturally sharp tonalities of the Carcosa for a more musical feel.Cosmetic wear on the rugged powder coated enclosure is limited to an area of exposed metal on the baseplate and a couple faint marks on the edges. The “King in Yellow” graphics are pristine, and the knobs are present.
