On sale this old Boss attempt to create an emulation of a funk analog synth bass sound . Today it is a bit obsolete , especially if you compare if to SY-1 . You will have better results if you put a compressor before it because it is rather chaotic when the sound is too dynamic . I like it a lot when I used it with a cheap keyboard - it transformed by cheap keyboard to big sounding synthesizer . I could also have control of the mix between the dry sound and effected .
