This is the best auto-wah envelope filter ever made, hands down. They are the fourth dimension of wah wah, or wha wha as sometimes referred to. The same unit that every single effect processor tries to emulate, always with mediocrity. This is an original early 1970’s version used by many greats like Bootsy Collins, Stevie Wonder, Jerry Garcia, Frank Zappa, and on and on. These were made in the USA when that meant quality, hi standards and expensive components. They are built like a tank. They were designed by the great engineer Mike Biegle and hand built by the original Musitronics crew. Several years ago this one was serviced and modified by Richard Ligenberg who specializes in Mu-Tron. This work was done for the purpose of eliminating the need for the bulky PS-1 power supply and to give it a true bypass. He also calibrated it to the original specs. The modifications include a power cord for use with your pedal board. The cord/cable is designed for a VooDoo Labs Pedal Power 2 (or the like) and works with two isolated 9V outputs. It can also be used with 2-9 volt batteries. The knobs are aftermarket; however I do have 2 of the original black knobs that will be included. If you want funky funk, funkier than phuck, that will blow your funking head off, then you have come to the right place. The Musitronics Mu-Tron III's performance is based on the electrical performance of its photo-couplers, which give the device its unique feel. Besides providing inverted vowel trajectory (‘staccato snap’), Mu-tron III also functions as an automatic ‘wah’ pedal.” Mu-tron III translates the envelope or “volume picture” of every note automatically… into an easily-controlled, articulated, vowel-like sound – as fast or slow as you play. Use Mu-tron III to create a variety of synthesizer sounds through most electrified instruments – guitar, keyboards, drums, flute, saxophone, brasses, bass, mandolin… even microphone. The sharper your attack and the more percussive your instrument, the wilder your sounds.
