The Boss OD-1 was the first true overdrive pedal to hit the market. Previous offerings had been more like a fuzz or distortion, so when the OD-1 launched in 1977, two years before the Tube Screamer, it was a totally new style of effect: taking what's there and warming it up and pushing the amp a bit harder, rather than pushing the signal to hard clipping. This one dates to October 1980 and is in great shape. The chip is an 8-leg TL4558P example, and it sounds awesome: warm, smooth and natural. Grab a tasty little slice of history.
