This is an early iteration of the DD-3, which initially used the same “long chip” as the DD-2. In essence, it is a DD-2 which Boss renamed for some reason before discontinuing the DD-2 and eventually switching to a smaller chip that doesn’t sound quite the same. Pedal is in perfect working order, and it is worth mentioning that there is a slight pause before the pedal turns on when you plug it in. This is due to some kind of protector Boss used in these older pedals to prevent the unit from getting damaged when the first burst of electricity is introduced to the pedal. I was not aware of this when I bought it and thought something was wrong. Turns out this is normal. The pedal sounds great, noticeably warmer than the later versions. I would only use this with a power supply because it eats 9v batteries in no time at all. feel free to ask any questions.
