Compressors are a must-have for studio recordings and a common tool for bass players, but as a guitar effect they are often misunderstood and don't last long on many pedalboards. And to add to the confusion, there are different types of compression technology. The VFE White Horse is a studio-style optical compressor.Optical Compression uses photocell bulb that gets brighter with the strength of your signal which triggers a photo-resistor to decrease it's power according to the brightness. This style is often described as "studio compression" because they have a very organic, slow release resulting in a more neutral effect.
