Description

Let's just get it out of the way. This is NOT an all original 1979 MXR Dist+. In fact, the only thing left of a 1979 Distortion + is the main enclosure (not the bottom lid), the jacks, the pots (dated 1979), some wires, and original QC sticker. Enclosure is quite faded, but undoubtedly a Dist+.I got the pedal minus the circuit board and knobs at a local gear swap meetup. I knew I had to rebuild it, it was just begging to come back to life! Utilizing what was left of the old parts, I rebuilt a Distortion + to vintage circuit specs on strip board and wired it into the existing parts that were left. I used vintage ITT 1n695 diodes. New set of knobs, new back plate with bumper feet. Footswitch is definitely vintage (not the original switch tho) and works fine. Only takes a 9v battery. Well, it sounds sick. It sounds like every other Dist+ I've owned, and this one is "kinda" vintage. I'll probably regret selling it just because of the story of it. I work for a big pedal company with all the right tools. High quality restore while trying to preserve all the original parts I could. No corners cut on the new parts used on the circuit. Works great, no need to feel nervous about further damage and use as this is not an original Dist+, it is meant to be played!
