The Midfield Maestro

The MZ15-RN module from the Amek Mozart console represents Rupert Neve's most sophisticated parametric mid design. Not the 1073, which has a fixed mid. Not any later Neve-branded product, which he had nothing to do with. The MF sections on that strip were what he built when he had no constraints, and they went largely unnoticed because the console arrived at exactly the moment the industry was moving to digital. Most desks ended up in storage. The strip on the second-hand market now is the kind of thing people spend months tracking down.

Regista takes that architecture, merges the MF1 and MF2 sections into a single continuous system, and extends every dimension of their original design beyond what the console was ever asked to do. The result is a fully parametric midrange shaper with independent, continuously variable control of frequency, gain, and bandwidth, built around a state-variable filter topology that maintains phase coherence across the entire sweep.

Zone sweeps continuously from 100 Hz to 10 kHz, covering the full span from low body through vocal definition and into upper presence and harmonic detail. Shape defines the bandwidth of that selection, moving from a wide, open response through a balanced one at noon to an extremely tight and focused peak, allowing anything from broad tonal shaping to precise resonance control. Drive applies a bell boost or cut of up to ±18 dB at the chosen frequency. Because all three remain continuously variable and fully independent, the midrange stops behaving like a fixed EQ band and becomes a space that can be navigated with intent.

Wide shapes integrate seamlessly into the signal, while narrow settings isolate harmonics, reveal resonances, and allow precise placement of the guitar within a mix. The state-variable architecture allows extreme settings to remain usable and musical, even at very narrow bandwidths or gain ranges beyond what console or pedal EQ sections typically offer.
Level provides ±18 dB of post-EQ gain, allowing the signal to be rebalanced after shaping without undoing the work of the midrange control.

The redistribution of midrange energy introduces a subtle sense of movement within the sound itself. Notes develop with more intention, harmonics shift in balance, and the guitar begins to feel less like a static signal and more like something breathing.

Designed and manufactured in Switzerland by RhPf Electronics, Regista is an original fully parametric mid shaper built for players who want precise control over the part of the spectrum that defines everything else, and the confidence to use it.
