Capharnaüm is built around the idea that a guitar can carry an entire wall of sound on its own. Instead of shaping a single distortion voice, the circuit layers two different gain structures and lets the player move through them, turning simple riffs into massive blocks of saturated texture.

At the heart of the pedal is a split signal path. One side runs through an extremely high-gain transistor fuzz that remains fully saturated at all times, producing a dense mass of harmonics and compression. The other side passes through a darker distortion circuit that becomes more aggressive as the control is advanced. A dual-ganged potentiometer blends these two worlds together while simultaneously increasing the gain of the distortion path. As the control moves forward, the sound grows progressively heavier and more chaotic, building from thick distortion into immense, collapsing fuzz structures where both layers interact.

The resulting character is dense, unforgiving, and physical. Chords expand into wide walls of saturation while the low end stays enormous and grounded, giving riffs the weight of something structural rather than decorative. The upper range crackles with rough, unstable texture that pushes forward with every pick attack, creating a sound that feels raw and immediate under the fingers. This is not a circuit designed for polite transitions or delicate cleanup. Once engaged, it commits fully to the noise, delivering a relentless mass of distortion that thrives on repetition and impact.

Scorch shapes the tonal balance of that saturation, moving between dark, rumbling thickness and biting, scorching intensity. Pillar controls the final output level, allowing the pedal to push an amplifier hard or sit precisely where it needs to within a mix. Together with the main gain blend, these controls allow players to steer the pedal from grinding distortion to towering fuzz collapse while keeping the overall voice massive and cohesive.

Capharnaüm excels in stripped-down setups where the guitar must occupy as much space as possible. In bands built around riffs, groove, and rhythmic force, its dense saturation fills the spectrum and turns a single instrument into a dominating presence. Repetition becomes heavier, chords become larger, and simple parts gain the scale of something far bigger than the number of players on stage.

Designed and manufactured in Switzerland by RhPf Electronics, Capharnaüm is an original distortion–fuzz hybrid created for musicians who want saturation to feel overwhelming, physical, and uncompromising. It is a pedal built for riffs, volume, and the kind of sound that feels closer to a collapsing wall of amplifiers than to a controlled overdrive.
