Dynamic MOSFET Tremolo

Moschops is built around the idea that tremolo should feel like motion within the signal rather than an effect placed on top of it. Instead of simply modulating volume up and down, the circuit is designed to let clean and modulated paths interact, creating movement that can range from clearly defined rhythmic pulses to subtler, phase-like instability. The result is a tremolo that adds life and momentum without thinning the sound or stepping away from the player’s core tone.

At the heart of Moschops is a dual-path architecture. The incoming signal is split into a clean path that preserves the original tone and a modulated path that is shaped and driven through a MOSFET-based gain stage before modulation is applied. This approach allows the tremolo to retain clarity and headroom while adding weight and harmonic color to the moving signal, avoiding the volume loss and tonal flattening common to many traditional tremolo designs.

Rather than using a conventional depth control, Moschops blends these two paths at the output. At higher intensity settings, the modulated signal dominates, producing bold, percussive tremolo with strong rhythmic definition. As the clean signal is blended back in, phase interactions begin to emerge, softening the chop and introducing a sense of wobble that can lean toward vibrato-like motion. This continuous blend makes the character of the tremolo feel adjustable and expressive rather than fixed, allowing movement to be shaped by interaction instead of presets.

The speed control spans a wide range, from slow, breathing swells to fast, stuttering pulses that lock tightly to rhythm. Even at extreme settings, the modulation remains musical and controlled, with the MOSFET-driven path maintaining warmth and coherence as the motion becomes more pronounced. A dedicated level control ensures the output can be matched or boosted, keeping the pedal easy to integrate anywhere in a signal chain without sacrificing presence or punch.

Because the tremolo is built around interaction rather than hard modulation, Moschops responds strongly to playing dynamics and pickup output. Light picking produces gentle movement, while a stronger attack pushes the modulation forward, making the effect feel connected to phrasing and touch. When placed after high-gain stages, the blended architecture can introduce subtle instability and texture, creating looser, more organic motion that sits between traditional tremolo and vibe-like behavior without fully becoming pitch modulation.

Designed and manufactured in Switzerland by RhPf Electronics, Moschops is an original tremolo built for players who want rhythm and movement to feel alive under the fingers. It is intended for those who see modulation as part of performance and feel rather than a background effect, offering a wide range of expressive motion while preserving the integrity and character of the original signal.
