The “essential” germanium diodes are at the heart of the myth. By substituting essential germanium diodes with germanium transistors (circa Cold War era) we increase the compression and saturation of the tone. The Manis can give you a softer attack that sounds more like a tube amp. Less ice-pick, more tube amp. This feels incredible under your fingertips too.
