Lossy captures the special kind of degradation that happens to digital audio when it’s shrunk, transferred, and compromised. Streaming music on a 56k modem, an MP3 ripped from a CD-R, a viral video from 2007 played through a cellphone. All the nasty and beautiful mistakes of heavily deconstructed digital audio in an easy-to-tweak real-time pedal.

Explore three different kinds of loss, each with a distinct response and sound: Submerged sparkles, feathery plunks, shifting digital clouds, and much, much more.

Packets
Introduce unpredictability and motion with the Packets toggle. Simulate a bad connection with the Packet Loss option, or use Packet Repeat for glitches and transfer errors.

Shape and Diffuse
Lossy includes both a routable reverb and a very flexible filter block to emphasize, soften, and spread its effect.

Freeze.
Slushy or solid?
Lossy contains a spectral freeze that can follow your playing and evolve at a speed of your choosing.
Use it as a shifting background, or resonant accompaniment, or to transform yourself into a slushy synth. Or solidify it for a more traditional, steady pad.
Lossy’s various parts can be used to shape the freeze and reveal spectral surprises within.
