Today, I'm testing the compatibility between my Machinedrum and two Eurorack cases.
The Pamela's NEW Workout syncs my Machinedrum
SPS-1 UW MKIl with my Make Noise rack, while the DivSkip takes care of sequencing it.
The Make Noise rack generates both percussive sounds and drones. With the Jumbler, I create a kind of matrix that selects sounds from the XPO-some are punchy and rhythmic, others are sustained melodic notes.
The Bruxa adds a truly unique reverb texture.
Maths and MultiMod create modulation and percussive variations. Everything is filtered through two modules:
QPAS and QMMG.
In the Intellijel 62hp Palette case, I shape a rhythmic drone using the Multigrain and Sealegs, also sequenced by the Pamela's NEW Workout.
Finally, the Machinedrum handles all the drums and kick duties, delivering a tight and organic groove.

I'm looking to create a starter rack for breakbeats/D&B/techno lead/bass design in tandem with my Oxi One mkii.
The One covers all generative and sequencing tasks, so the rack is just meant to be mangle-able voices for it.

The Corals will be lead, chords and basslines on #1 and drums on #2. Not entirely sure how/if I want to run drums through FX. I also have considered that having one module that sums the lead, chords and bass voices into one output is not ideal for throwing FX on only single parts and may be severely limiting. It's cool that via MIDI, one can split up the voices to use different engines on Coral, but not useful that they dont have 8 individual outs also. That would've increased the form factor quite a bit, but I think would've made it a BEAST.

I think I will need some interesting mixer module with 2 stereo outs to be able to effectively route both modules through the later FX chain, but I'm not sure which would best serve those needs as a newbie to this scene.

Perhaps another STMIX before Maths, and I can use it as an FX-Send with channels 3/4 into the Maths-Morph-Naut-Aid chain, while running ch1/2 clean to the next STMIX?

want 8 stage seq going to 2 sep VCOs but want to be able to have one VCO hold the pitch CV whenever I want while the other keeps incrementing, so need two sequencers with same pitch settings and rate, seq A goes straight to VCO1 as normal, seq B has to be the 960 for the ind gate ins.
- Clock Vgates and time suite with same clock value through switch getting diff sync rates backplane
- Vgates outs 1-8 imto octal VCA ins 1-8, VCA outs 1-8 patched to 960 gate ins 1-8
- Q170 gate outs 1-8 into octal VCA ctrl ins 1-8
- start with all 8 pads high/Q170 all gates high, means both VCOs will be playing every note
- selectively disable Q170 gates to have VCO 2 hold & sustain pitch for the previous step while VCO1continues to increment pitch

1 Multiclock DIN sync>time buffer>8s thru 32nd pulses to switch backplane, then to Moon 568, volt ministore 4 and Vgates

I'm confusimg myself by keep changing modules but I thought I would rationalise on sequencimg by just going for the vector.

What do you think of this? I'm not sure about squid sample or chords, and am I missimg anything?

There are analog implementations of ADCs in Eurorack in the form of R-2R resistance ladders. Equation Group by Wildfire Laboratories is one example.

R-2R ladder is a simplified implementation of a DAC, not an ADC. So this could be a substitute of the right side of Drezno, not the left side.

You're right. I suppose you'd need a reference voltage and a comparator per output to make it an ADC.

Functions should include "PreAmp", since that's basically half of the module ;)

In this video, I recreate some of the complex astronomical forces behind the ocean tides, by using precisely-calibrated oscillators, adders, and other modules. I then use this “bio-model” to drive two ambient patches – the first in VCV Rack and the second in Eurorack.

Separated the main sequencing to this

("5" years of practicing with the following: Deluge, Minibrute 2s, o coast), + Paratek Saturn, Disting mk4, nlc Pills 1u, nlc This 2 shall pass, 3hwr, r2r dac, bastl Cinimon, stmod Diz, & o_c . (& exactly 19 patch cables)
o_c & cinimon are only a couple months now

im looking for something to experiment & lern with,
-like chaining things to make my own complex sequencer,
-control over too many things at once,
-audible landscapes,
-lots of feed back & harsh noise/texture,
-strange related abstract shapes etc
-fun confusion

lmk things I overlooked, too much/not enough, suggestions etc.

One handy feature of the Module Finder feature is the dropdown option for "Product Lifecycle."

You can weed out discontinued or prototype modules by selecting "Currently Available."

Here is a recording with a "mastering" (by myself) and without, no other editing or effects. I think even if you take away the db gain, it still adds a bit more balance and glues it together imo.

I have a Tesseract Stonk (which is a very powerful module) and I notice a certain behaviour when saving and loading presents.

Firstly I create an audio loop and then save the preset.
Then I Clear the Loop.
Then I re-Load the preset.
The content of the loop seems to be empty - so the Preset does not seem to save the loop contents, even though the Loop LED is flashing after the preset re-Load.
All other aspects of the Preset are correct, e.g. Channel assingments.

Also, a power cycle restores the Presets but seems to clear the Loop contents.

Is this correct or am I missing something?

Time to get pissed on Guinness and start patching.. innit? ...mate.

A few minor details, if you haven't purchased any of these yet: Quadra is probably best swapped with the newer version Quadrax. Plaits may be better in micro version aka uPlaits (check out Cal synths or the like), same thing, slightly smaller. The Quadra and Plaits may otherwise be harder to track down or be used vs. new. IF that matters to you, may not. :)

My gut feelings, take it or leave it, is a 2nd sequencer may be a tad much in this setup?

In my humble opinion, can't go wrong with a Quadrax/QuadVCA/Plaits (or uPlaits)/Batumi setup. Covers VCA, mixing, envelops, random sources (random lfos from Quadrax, Batumi), LFOs (Batumi & Quadrax).

And plaits is obv a classic.

Sweep and Regen are broken, no function anymore. Tried to cantact SSF many times over all possible platforms. No reaction at all, really bad customer support. Maybe my last SSF Module

i have everything except the IFM modules. im currently in the middle of a studio remodel, so no sounds at the moment. hopefully soon. thanks for your interest.

I have one... Super module. it includes a mixer and that makes it worth the HP...

To be clear, it is two differen recordings but it is the same patch.
The first is a live performance all just one recording. Also in mono due to my case atm.
The second is made by recording each voice indipendently.
Here is cut and selected heavy on the leading chords to get the arrangement right.
I also added all FX in the DAW to have automation possibilitys, full stereo and send options. Good example is the delay on the bassline. It totally changed the character.
EQ and compression (with my limited skills) cleaned the mix and made it phatterrrr. I maintained the gritty gear vibe though imo.

It was really tidious and took me days, but I think it was worth in the end. Still I was really happy to get away from the PC and back to my knobs and cables after that.

If you catch something that really amazes you, make the best of it. I did not do anything like that for 5 years and a lot of good stuff just vanished with every new session on my system.

While you're picking up little Takaab modules, I would recommend a 2LPG. It might open up what kind of oscillators and sounds you can use as percussion, and it's cheap, small, and passive.

if you have the funds, wmd crucible would spice things up a lot. great sound and extrmly versatile. You could ditch one of the hats because it can do great hats. A little cheaper but also massive sounding would be the erica cymbals! Thats one of my next picups :)
