SSL-style stereo compressor
Designed and hand crafted in France, the Solid Compressor has been created to accurately reproduce the famous « Magic Glue » compression of the legendary ‘Quad Compressor’ of the E series console mix bus.
The Solid Compressor is based around the DBX 202 Gold Edition discreet VCA (1 per channel) offering very special tone and gain reduction characteristics. As the DBX 202 vca is no longer produced, the Solid Compressor 202 Gold Edition is produced in very limited series.
Features:
Bypass: True bypass (silent relay activation)
Threshold: Continuously variable from –20db to +20db.
Attack: 9 positions stepped switch : (0.1, 0.3, 0.6, 1, 3, 10, 30, 60, 120mS).
Release: 6 positions stepped switch: 50, 100, 300, 600mS, 1.2S, Auto
Ratio: 5 positions stepped switch: 1.5:1, 2:1, 4:1, 10:1, 20:1
Make Up Gain: Continuously variable from 0 to +20db
S/C Filter: 6 positions stepped switch: OFF, 40hz, 80hz, 160hz, 200hz, TILT. Applies a filter to the detection signal, prevents low frequencies from triggering compression. Useful on mixes or drum busses to preserve low end. The Tilt position adds a 8 db shelve boost from 1kHz to the HP filter, resulting in a transient-triggered compression.
Wet / Dry: Continuously variable with step at 50% position. Easy parallel compression at your finger tips.
Warp: 3 positions (OFF / x1 / x2) + continuously variable adjustment. Off , x1 (variable from 1 to 10% thd), x2 (variable from 10 to 20% thd). A unique feature of the Solid Compressor. The Warp function accentuates the VCA's third harmonics (assymetrical distortion) offering musical, valve-like saturation. The different positions and values can add subtle harmonics as well as insane distortion Please note that Warp only acts on the wet signal (the dry signal is unaffected) even when no gain reduction is applied, meaning you can use the solid compressor as a parallel distortion unit if required.
SC / IN: Normalled Jack. Trigger compression with external signal. (the S/C filter is also active on this input)
